the flirt reign of darkness The power grants several special abilities, including The Glowing. Use The Gloaming to teleport to any locker on the map, creating a Stay (think of it as a spectral placeholder) in the process. With many lockers positioned in various locations on any given map, this gives The Dredge some serious mobility. If you decide not to teleport, you can instead return to your Stay and regain lost ground.
Whether you’re looking to learn The Dredge or increase your chances of survival, we’ve got some tips and tricks for you.
Three tips for playing as Dredge
While The Dredge’s teleport is an effective way to traverse the map, it can also be put to good use in a chase. If you see a survivor running towards an extended loop – a main building or the killer’s cabin, for example – it’s likely there will be a locker nearby. Use your teleportation to make predictions, get out of a locker and cut them.
As the Trial progresses and the generators decrease, be careful not to spread yourself too thin. Be aware of how generators are spread across the map and try to identify which ones are worth keeping. It can be tempting to teleport around the map to protect a lone generator, but that cooldown can prove costly if survivors take advantage of your absence, especially in the late game.
With a high skill cap, the Remnant aspect of The Dredge’s Power allows for plenty of exciting mind games. While a Survivor attempts to lure you into a long area of loops, strategically create a remnant at key choke points to effectively cut them off mid-stroke.
Consider creating a Vestige near a pallet or window, as chances are a Survivor will want to use it. If the Survivors seem intent on running multiple times around a structure, anticipate this and use your Remnant to close the distance. Remember that Survivors can remove your Vestige through direct contact, so try to predict their movement.
The dredge is darkness manifested, so naturally it thrives when the lights go out. When the night cycle begins, remember that the survivors will be much more disoriented than you. Be aware that you hold the advantage in chases, and areas that Survivors may have skillfully navigated before could now cause them trouble.
That’s not to say Nightfall will guarantee a successful end to your pursuit, but it’s worth noting that survivors will have their vision severely hampered. Is there a sight sweeter than a Survivor running into a wall?
We hope you enjoy playing as The Dredge and wish you good luck in the trials ahead… but what if you cross paths with him as an opponent?
Three tips for surviving dating
The Dredge is an oppressive and disturbing killer, which can quickly darken a survivor’s day. Only the bravest stand a chance – and new survivor Haddie Kaur is no shortage in that department.
Haunted by frightening visions since childhood, Haddie Kaur was driven to face the horror of the realms beyond. Throughout her travels to haunted corners of the world – which she covered at length on her podcast Ravages of the Abyss – she has developed several tools to help her deal with this terrifying new threat.
If you find yourself facing off against The Dredge, whether as Haddie or any other survivor, here are some helpful tips to brighten up the darkness.
Manage the nightfall
With all the excitement a trial brings, it can be easy to lose track of the HUD. When dealing with flirt, however, it’s worth paying close attention to the meter surrounding your character icon. Knowing when the map darkens will keep you ahead of the game. It might seem like a small suggestion, but keeping a watchful eye on this HUD could mean the difference between life and death, as some areas can really cause trouble in the dark.
Watch for the signs
If you find yourself being chased by The Dredge, you can choose to head for the nearest loop, the main building, or Killer’s Shack. If there’s a locker nearby, The Dredge can teleport out of it, interrupting you. Keep an eye on his arm – if you see him get up, The Dredge is charging his power, so be on your toes during a teleport game. It’s also wise to watch lockers for signs of its presence, as The Dredge leaves subtle visual and audible clues inside a locker.
Watch out for those locks
Although The Dredge can teleport around the map, you can prevent its process by placing a lock on a locker door. This will delay the release of The Dredge, as it will take several seconds for the lock to be destroyed. It can be tempting to consolidate security at the start of a match, but remember that each locker can only be locked once. If The Dredge breaks every lock midway through a trial, you could be in for a tough endgame.
