Discover+ to release Alex Holder’s explosive documentary on the January 6 uprising

Holder himself said in a statement on the documentary (still via Variety), “When we began this project in September 2020, we could never have anticipated that our work would one day be subpoenaed by Congress. […] As a British filmmaker, I had no agenda for this. We just wanted to better understand who the Trumps were and what motivated them to cling so desperately to power. We have dutifully delivered all documents requested by the Committee and we are cooperating fully.”

Holder and his company AJH Films have previously worked on documentaries like “Keep quiet‘, which follows a member of Hungary’s far-right conservative Jobbik party. As for why Holder hasn’t spoken on ‘Unprecedented’ so far, it seems his deal with Discovery+ has. so he couldn’t discuss the movie or publicly Still, maybe dropping news like this all of a sudden worked for the best, given that all eyes are now on Discovery+ and Holder to see what’s actually cooked in this docuseries.

As someone who lives in DC now and lived in DC during the insurgency, I can’t deny my own brand of fascination with this insane story and all the ways it unfolded after Jan. 6. Discovery+ locked me in and they know it. Only time will tell if watching the scenes unfold much later, and through the lens of a doc, will make them look more like something that actually happened, and less like a stressful nightmare/dream combination. unending.
