NFL Hall of Fame Game 2022: Raiders rout Jaguars in preseason opener

The NFL is back! Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars27-11, at the 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio.

The annual exhibition played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium kicked off the preseason roster. This year’s game featured a first head coach for both sides – Josh McDaniels for Las Vegas and Doug Pederson for Jacksonville.

It was the Raiders’ fourth time in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, although it was the first since the team moved to Las Vegas, as it marked Jacksonville’s second appearance ever.

After a short weather delay, things started in Canton and football fans got their first glimpse of the new Raiders. Davante Adams in silver and black.


The Raiders were first on the board with a field goal on their opening drive, while running backwards Josh Jacobs helped bring his team onto the field on the ensuing possession. Jacobs, a former first-round pick now in his fourth season, was a surprise entrant among several other established starters who have been absent.

#1 for a reason

Edge Precipitator Travon Walker – Jacksonville’s first overall pick in this year’s draft – offered a huge sack on the Raiders’ backup QB Jarrett Stidham. Las Vegas settled for a placement on the disc, taking a 6-0 lead.

At home!

The Raiders extended their lead on the first practice of the second quarter, thanks to a short run of Amir Abdullaha former 2015 second-round pick. Just like that, it was a 13-0 shutout at the start of this one.


On the Raiders’ next drive, third-string QB Nick Mullens found RB Zamir whitea fourth-round pick by LV in this year’s draft, for a big gain of 19 yards to move the sticks.

Stidham was sacked three times but also showed he could spin, rushing for a 12-yard score late in the first half to give the Raiders a 20-0 lead.


Adventurers tackle Kendal Vickers came with a big game on defense, fending off the former All-USFL signal-caller Kyle Sloterwho played for New Orleans thugs this spring.

The Jaguars avoided a shutout by adding a basket late in the third quarter, making it 20-3.

when it rains, it pours

Newly Created RB Raiders Austin-Walter came on with the third TD of the night to give Las Vegas a 27-3 advantage. Walter just signed with the Raiders on Friday after spending last season with the New York Jets.

Jacksonville finally found the end zone with minutes to spare. Sloter redeemed himself with a short pass to RB Nathan Cotrell for the score and a two-point conversion to make it a two possession game again – 27-11 – but the action ended there.

As usual for a first pre-season game, most of the best players from both teams were just spectators. But that will change in due time.
